The Mantanani Islands are a group of three isolated islands located northwest of Kota Belud, about an hour’s drive from Sabah’s state capital, Kota Kinabalu. These islands are roughly a 55-minute speedboat ride from the Kuala Abai Jetty on the mainland.
One of the primary reasons Mantanani Islands is popular with both locals and visitors is because of its gorgeous landscape, fresh breezes, and tranquil setting.
A lot of species of rays, such as the blue spotted ray and the marbled sting ray, flit around among enormous schools of fish. Aside from that, muck diving is fantastic, with the presence of imperial shrimps, jaw fish ribbon eels, seahorses, pink-eyed gobbles, and the jaw-dropping blue-ringed octopus, among another nudibranch.
Kota Kinabalu / Kuala Abai Jetty – Kota Belud / Kota Kinabalu
0700hrs
Pick-up from your hotel and journey to Kota Abai Jetty.
0930hrs
Arrival at the jetty. Chill for a bit while waiting for your boat departure to Mantanani Island.
1000hrs
Embark on a 45-60 minute boat ride to Mantanani Island.
1045hrs
Arrive at the island, a safety briefing will be conducted and snorkelling gear will be distributed. Hop on the boat for your first house reef snorkelling site.
1230hrs
Return to the island for a hearty lunch.
1330hrs
After lunch, your second snorkelling house reef site will commence. If you don’t feel like snorkelling, you are free at your own leisure or take a walk on the white sand.
1500hrs
Pack up and get ready for your boat transfer back to the mainland, and onward transfer to your hotel by tour van/bus.
1800hrs
